Capturing any solar eclipse is rare enough, but what you see here is even more seldomly seen. When the light of the sun passes through watervapor in the sky it a sunbow can appear, a sort of smaller rainbow, surrounding the Sun.
But when I captured this photo of this year’s solar eclipse it meant that the amount of direct sunlight was mostly eclipsed, leaving only a partially visible, dim sunbow. I have enhanced the exposure and contrast of this version of the photo to bring it out.
Even still, my camera could not capture the complete range of colours in these unusual lighting conditions. For this photo to be possible I had to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right amount of weather conditions. An eclipse to remember, and my favourite photo for this year.
